Неудачный перевод, Тейлор пишет об «immanent frame», не структуре, а рамке или каркасе секуляризованного миропонимания, незаметно присутствующих в системе нашего восприятия мира и определяющих ее.

В русском издании переводчики предпочли неудачный, на наш взгляд, термин «изолированный субъект». Отличие значительное: изолированным может быть тот, кого помимо его воли исключили из некоего процесса, изоляция нередко имеет негативный оттенок. Буферизированное Я точнее отражает идею Тейлора, это тот самый субъект, который выстраивает между собой и внешним по отношению к нему миром буферные пространства, тем самым становясь неподвластным воздействиям извне.
